We consider this aspect as a matter of privacy; understandably, you wouldn't want your neighbors to have direct sight into your property due to their building activities.
This is where an architect plays a crucial role; they can design solutions that align with your objectives while adhering to privacy, environmental, legal, and service-related regulations.
If you're unsure whether your project requires council approval, consult your local council website and search for "development fact sheets" or "development sections."
For projects solely involving internal modifications such as wall demolition, kitchen and/or bathroom renovations, painting, electrical and plumbing updates, there's a gray area where some councils may not intervene significantly.
Many of our clients undertaking internal works bypass the council process. However, it's your responsibility to ascertain your specific council requirements.
For internal works, if you already have a clear design concept, you may not necessarily need an architect. We also offer an internal design and construction package for kitchens and bathrooms. While this doesn't involve architect drawings, it includes detailed 2D and 3D renderings.
If your home renovation project requires council approval, we strongly recommend engaging an architect early in the process, before engaging with builders. Ensure you communicate your budget for building costs to the architect so they can tailor their designs accordingly.
